Karen brings experience of working in adult mental health services, supporting people who are living with complex difficulties, often shaped by trauma, adversity, and challenging life experiences. Within her work, she has supported people of all ages who are navigating a wide range of mental health needs, life transitions, and periods of adjustment and change. Karen has also supported staff wellbeing initiatives in health, social care and other public sector settings.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative, compassionate and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
She works with individuals and groups, offering psychological support to help people make sense of difficult experiences, foster resilience and find ways of living meaningfully in the presence of life's challenges. Karen sees people of all ages with diverse challenges to their mental health and wellbeing, alongside her particular interest in supporting women in midlife and during menopause.
Karen brings this experience to her work at The Synthesis Clinic, offering support to navigate the emotional impact of cancer, including periods of uncertainty and profound change, with a focus on compassion, supporting adjustment, and helping people maintain a sense of meaning and connection.
