Marcia

CHNC Registered Yoga Therapist, Member of the Society of Integrative Oncology (SIO)

Marcia Mercier is an experienced Yoga Therapist and specialist Yoga for Cancer teacher, with a longstanding commitment to integrative cancer care. Her work is shaped by both professional training and personal experience, following her own diagnosis of breast cancer and later her son’s cancer journey, which led her to train in Yoga Therapy as a therapeutic intervention.

At Synthesis Clinic, Marcia works as part of the multidisciplinary team, offering yoga therapy as a supportive, whole-person approach alongside medical cancer care. Yoga therapy considers physical health, emotional wellbeing, lifestyle, sleep and medical history, and is tailored to each individual’s needs, treatment stage and goals. Marcia provides personalised yoga therapy programmes that may include gentle movement, breathwork, meditation, relaxation techniques and mindful awareness, helping patients manage symptoms such as fatigue, pain, anxiety and treatment-related stress. Her approach is nurturing, evidence-informed and empowering, supporting patients to engage actively in their recovery and rehabilitation.

Marcia is CNHC-registered Yoga Therapist, a Specialist Yoga for Cancer Teacher, a Menopause Yoga Teacher, and a member of the Society of Integrative Oncology (SIO). All sessions are delivered online, with bespoke practices designed to support patients safely throughout their cancer journey.

How I work

All consultations are 1:1, 60-90 minutes long (90 min for initial assessment and 60 min for follow-ups) and take place via Zoom (online). You may be asked to complete a health questionnaire, which will be discussed, your priorities agreed, and a treatment plan decided upon to start your yoga therapy journey.

Follow-up sessions will be 60 minutes long and usually take place either weekly or fortnightly initially. During these sessions, Marcia may suggest movement, mindfulness, meditation, breathing exercises and/or relaxation techniques to help relieve stress and manage your underlying symptoms, promoting self-care and encouraging overall wellbeing.
