Giuseppe Scapellato is an HCPC-registered Dietitian, Nutritional Therapist and Clinical Herbalist with extensive experience supporting people with complex medical and cancer-related needs. Giuseppe provides specialist nutritional support for people undergoing cancer treatment, particularly where cancer or its therapies impact kidney function, appetite, weight, gastrointestinal tolerance or overall nutritional status. He is experienced in managing nutrition in the context of polypharmacy, metabolic disturbance and medically restrictive diets, working closely with medical teams to ensure safe, integrated care.

In additions to standard English language consultations, we are able to offer cancer nutrition consultations in Russian with Olena and in Italian with Giuseppe.

What is nutritional therapy and how does it work in cancer nutrition support?

Nutritional therapy uses up-to-date nutrition science to promote mental and physical health and wellbeing. Nutritional therapy is not an ‘off-the-peg’ quick fix or set of instructions because:

  • you are entirely unique, right down to your biochemistry

  • your body works as a whole and all your physiological systems are interconnected, not operating in isolation

Delivering personalised nutrition plans requires detective work, using a thorough case history to develop an in-depth understanding of your health. This approach aims to uncover the biochemical imbalance(s) that undermine your health. It asks why these have arisen (and therefore how to rebalance them), not just to how to patch them up. Each plan is personalised to you and tailored your needs, considering not just nutrition but also your environment, exercise, sleep and stress management.

Our cancer nutrition team practice using the Systems Approach to Cancer model, working individually and with other members of the team and our integrative oncology doctors to deliver coordinated care.

Book Your Nutrition Package

If you would like some further information, you can contact our clinic coordinator on jody@synthesisclinic.co.uk or book a free 15 min discovery call here (please note that this is an explanatory call only, and no personalised advice will be provided). The discovery call should only be booked if you are interested in discussing nutrition and lifestyle support in the context of a current or previous cancer diagnosis, we do not cover general nutrition enquiries. Please note that we do supply recipes and meal ideas but we do not provide meal plans.

Please note that our nutrition team are not able to work with integrative doctors outside our clinic, as we aim to keep an aligned and consistent approach. Similarly, if you are under the care of a dietitian in the NHS, we are not usually able to provide joint support. If you have other professionals apart from your oncology team involved in your care, you will need to notify us and discuss this with our clinic coordinator before booking in. It is essential that you are consciously prepared to make some nutrition and lifestyle changes before contacting the clinic and to invest time and effort into this approach with our support, as it is not a quick fix.
