Dr Annelies Billen

Dr Annelies Billen is a Consultant Haematologist with expertise in general haematology, haemato-oncology and internal medicine. She completed her specialist training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and University College London Hospital (UCLH), after graduating in medicine from KU Leuven, Belgium.

Following her training, Dr Annelies held consultant posts at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and later practised in Singapore, bringing an international perspective to patient-centred cancer care. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists, and completed an MD (Res) at the UCL Cancer Institute, where her research focused on stem cell donation. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, contributed to national haematology guidelines in the UK and Singapore, and is a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician and member of the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society.

At Synthesis Clinic, Dr Annelies works as part of the multidisciplinary integrative oncology team, combining conventional haematology expertise with lifestyle and precision medicine approaches. She collaborates closely with the patient’s oncology team to provide complementary, evidence-based support alongside standard cancer treatment.

Her work focuses on optimising treatment tolerance, managing side effects such as fatigue, anxiety and metabolic disruption, and supporting cardiovascular and long-term health. She has a particular interest in precision diagnostics and highly personalised care plans that reflect each patient’s biology, treatment history and life context, with a strong emphasis on survivorship and long-term wellbeing.
